Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix [ a.k.a. Johnny Allen Hendrix ] was the greatest electric guitar player ever. He got his first guitar in 1958. “When he was 19 years old, he played back up in bands like Little Richard, Isley Brothers, Ike and Tina Turner and Sam Cook.” The band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, was formed in London with Jimi himself, bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. “In 1966, they released ‘Hey Joe’ and reached #4 in British Charts and ‘Purple Haze’ reached #3.” Their first album “Are You Experienced” made a huge success in London.
In June 1967, The Jimi Hendrix Experience played in The Monterey Festival. Near the end of 1967, they released their second album “Axis: Bold Is Love.” Two years later, The Jimi Hendrix Experience broke up. Two months later, Jimi played The Star-Spangled Banner in Woodstock and it was an amazing moment. He played all day long.
“In New years 1969 – 1970, Jimi Hendrix made a new band, ‘The Band of Gypsys.’” Jimi built “The Electric Lady Studios” in New York in August so the band can record their albums. They were recording their new album “First Raise Of A New Rising Sun.” “On September 18, 1970, Jimi Hendrix died in his sleep of a drug overdose.” In 1997, the album was finally released.
