Jimi Hendrix [ a.k.a. Johnny Allen Hendrix ] was the greatest electric guitar player ever. He got his first guitar in 1958. “When he was 19 years old, he played back up in bands like Little Richard, Isley Brothers, Ike and Tina Turner and Sam Cook.” The band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, was formed in London with Jimi himself, bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. “In 1966, they released ‘Hey Joe’ and reached #4 in British Charts and ‘Purple Haze’ reached #3.” Their first album “Are You Experienced” made a huge success in London.

In June 1967, The Jimi Hendrix Experience played in The Monterey Festival. Near the end of 1967, they released their second album “Axis: Bold Is Love.” Two years later, The Jimi Hendrix Experience broke up. Two months later, Jimi played  The Star-Spangled Banner in Woodstock and it was an amazing moment. He played all day long.

“In New years 1969 – 1970, Jimi Hendrix made a new band, ‘The Band of Gypsys.’” Jimi built “The Electric Lady Studios” in New York in August so the band can record their albums. They were recording their new album “First Raise Of A New Rising Sun.” “On September 18, 1970, Jimi Hendrix died in his sleep of a drug overdose.” In 1997, the album was finally released.

Story

Once upon a time, there was a boy who was walking down the street. The boy sees an old man with a Saint Mary’s hat on. “Weird, that man looks very familiar.” the boy says. The boy continues to walk down the road, but he glances back at the old man, and he is already across the street. The boy turns  his head back to the road in front of him and the old man was right in front of him. The boy almost falls to the ground in surprise that the old man appeared right in front of him. “How did you get here so fast!? Now I know there’s something about you! Who are you!?” the boy yelled. The old man chuckles and takes off his hat and says, “Young boy, I am you from the future.” The boy’s eyes widened when he had heard this. The old man had told him why he had came from the future; he told the boy  that after he graduates from Saint Mary’s, he’s going to a really good college, get a degree and live a very happy life. The boy thanked his future self and went on to study to have a good career in the near future.

Why I Came To St. Mary’s

•October 1, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Well… I thought St. Mary’s would be a good school. I had to choose at least one out of three high schools to got to. It was Paramus, Queen of Peace, or St. Mary’s. I went to all schools and I had a feeling St. Mary’s was great for me. Plus everyone I saw there was cool.

Even though the school is small, it feels like I made the right choice. Now coming here, I feel right at home. I have really great friends and really cool teachers. Plus the school looks nice and clean :)

Detroit: Too Broke To Bury Their Dead

•October 1, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Detroit Morgue
There are 67 bodies all piled up in the Wayne County morgue in midtown Detroit, unclaimed, in a freezer. None of the families nor the county can afford to bury them, so they stack up in a freezer. The chief investigator, Albert Samuels, said that he has never seen anything like it during his 13 years on the job. “The number of unclaimed corpses at the Wayne County morgue is at a record high, having tripled since 2000.” ” ‘One way we look back at a culture is how they dispose of their dead, ‘ said the county’s chief medical examiner, Carl Schmidt, who has been in his position for 15 years.”
